How to Find a Meaningful Job
Finding a meaningful job requires us to: look inward and discover who we really are, understand where we have been, determine what we have to offer and contemplate what we would like to do. It's a spiritual journey inward.
Each of us has a purpose. It may not be totally unique to another person's mission, but will be of benefit to others.
Reflect on what you really like to do. Is there an activity you do that causes you to lose all track of time? What do you look forward to? Something you would be willing to do for nothing. What has God put you on earth to do?
Do you know what God's will for you is? Have you prayed to know His Will. Many times, we stumble through life repeating the same old patterns of behaviour, not even being conscious of it.
Do you want to work with your hands to create, build or fix, or would you rather work with information? Maybe you would rather work with people?
Are you being realistic about your ideal job. If you are the quiet, unassuming, reserved type, then it wouldn't make sense for you to work a job which requires an outgoing people person.
Figure out where you want to work. Do you want to be in the country, a small town or a big city? How much money do expect to earn?
Try to visualize working at your ideal job. What are the surroundings? Who are you working with. Be as specific as you can.
Finding your ideal job may require you to go back to school. Are you able to take night courses while working at your current job? Can you get in on the ground floor or work part time at your ideal job?

A Prayer for Employment
God, our Father, I turn to you seeking
your divine help and guidance as I look for suitable employment.
I need your wisdom to guide my footsteps along the right path,
and to lead me to find the proper things to say and do in this quest.
I wish to use the gifts and talents you have given me,
but I need the opportunity to do so with gainful employment.
Do not abandon me, dear Father, in this search, but rather
grant me this favor I seek so that I may return to you with
praise and thanksgiving for your gracious assistance.
Grant this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen
