Reality Check
-
Every country in the world still has slaves; slavery is far from only being blacks enslaved in America a couple hundred years ago. Slaves can be male or female, child or adult, black or white and every shade in between.
-
The stock market is for people who can afford to lose money. It is too risky to have our pensions (or any money we rely on) tied into it.
-
Meat, dairy and processed foods are killing us quicker.
-
According to Dr. Mark Sircus Ac., O.M.D., in his book, Transdermal Magnesium Therapy, “magnesium deficiency, not calcium deficiency plays a key role in osteoporosis.”
-
Hydraulic fracturing is scary.
-
Many industrialized countries will not be able to sustain the size of their governments.
-
The devil is well travelled, but seems to reside in Mexico.
-
North America and its countries contained therein, with their forms of government, laws and freedoms, were built on Christian values. Deviation from Christianity and those values will bring about the emergence of a new state. Just as some other countries have.
-
Goalies should not be spending so much time on their knees. They should stay on their skates and they will cover much more of the net, be quicker, and make more saves. They would have better success spending more time on their feet than being sprawled all over the ice.
-
Hockey would be a much different game if referees called all the interference infractions.
-
For the Olympics, they need only test medal winners for steroids or banned substances.
-
Basketball would be more entertaining if the NBA raised the hoop at least 12 inches. How hard is it for a seven foot basketball player to score points in a 10 foot rim? Also, referees should really be calling all the travelling violations.
-
It should be legislated that all vehicles be hybrids.
-
Landlords should not be allowed to offer free heat. This is a big energy waster, as millions of tenants will overuse it, thereby driving up the cost for the rest of us.
-
In the larger scheme of things, light bulbs don’t use much energy; it’s a distraction from the bigger energy wasters.
-
It's hypocritical for a meat eater and/or dairy consumer to complain about how others treat the environment.
-
The Post Office need only deliver mail three times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
-
Many businesses, including grocery stores and those in shopping malls, allow their employees to park near the entrances, thereby taking valuable parking spots from patrons. It's poor business sense.
-
Americans are fickle voters: a few attack ads on Gingrich by Romney in the Republican leadership race, and his support nose dives.
-
The 2004 Presidential campaign saw the Swift Boat attack ads against John Kerry (a decorated soldier during the Vietnam War) hinder his Presidential aspirations. The irony being that his opponent, the incumbent as well as the vice-president, were both draft dodgers in that very same war.

Canadian actors invariably OVERACT. When I watch them it reminds me of the Brady Bunch episode where the Brady family was cast to do a commercial for laundry detergent. To prepare for same, they took advice from an overzealous acting coach. As a result, their acting appeared forced and contrived on the day of the shoot. Canadian actors must have had that same coach!
-
When filming a scene, Canadian camera work can be vacillating and schizophrenic. This shaking of the camera does not create excitement nor is it trendy or the next new thing. It’s ridiculous! The goal of the cameraman is to make the audience forget that there is a camera shooting the scene!
-
Ian Thomas’ version of his own hit “Right Before Your Eyes” is much better than that of the band America. I could never understand why Canadian disk jockeys would play America’s version over their own Canadian artist. America’s version is weak and ineffectual, while Ian’s version reveals the pain and passion the singer and the song is trying to convey. I had to mention this; it is something that has always irked me.

If you're looking for someone to perform the Star-Spangled Banner, the best choice would be a preadolescent female singer (as long as they stay away from the soul, gospel type renditions).
-
It sounds unprofessional for television news anchors and field reporters to say thank you or you're welcome (or give any response) to each other after the story has been presented. Even if the anchor is silly enough to initiate the rhetorical thank you, the reporter should keep his/her mouth shut. Canadian reporters are really bad for this and it makes them look weak and amateurish. Instead, the producer of the news program should direct them to do what the BBC News does: the anchor states the reporters name and the scene quickly fades out.

If Ishmael's descendants had as much zeal for Christ as they do for their own misguided beliefs, the world would be a much more loving place.
-
About the Arab Spring: sure, you may have gotten rid (or in the process) of your corrupt government, but there is something waiting in wings which is much more insidious. To bad though, it would have been a great opportunity to finally obtain your God given freedoms.

Prayer is proven effective, even for recipients who do not know someone is praying for them!
-
With all the cash donated to heart, stroke and cancer research, you would think that at the very least their rates would be going down. Certainly not getting value for the money there. However, maybe the preventative solution to these health problems is a little more obvious and straightforward than we think.

What are software companies like Microsoft and Oracle doing about digital obsolescence? The irony being that today we are accessing cultural records from centuries ago, but the cultural records we are creating today will soon be lost forever because the formats they are stored on are increasingly becoming obsolete. You know what it's like, you constantly have to upgrade your software, and when you do upgrade, you rarely get the files in their original form. And if you upgrade from really old software, the new software won't support the old version at all. The software companies are making lots of money but there are ramifications - such as the loss of information we are creating and compiling. This information is our culture!

To raise population levels, government failed on giving tax relief or financial incentives to legitimate families in their own country.
-
At year end 2010, about 7.1 million people, or 1 in 33 adults, were under the supervision of adult correctional authorities in the U.S. (Bureau of Justice Statistics) Maybe America needs to follow different sentencing guidelines.
