Intercessory Prayers - Praying for Poor Sinners

WHAT IS PRAYER? PRAYER IS SIMPLY COMMUNICATION WITH GOD. TALKING AND LISTENING.

Statue of BVM - prayersWHEN WE PRAY, WE CHANGE THE COURSE OF HISTORY.

Prayer is the raising of one's heart and mind to God, adoring Him, thanking Him, begging His forgiveness, bringing to Him our spiritual and temporal requests, with a humble and contrite heart, and asking Him for the graces needed for that day. God wants to hear from you!

... if it were true that God only heard the prayers of those in a state of grace it would follow that people in a state of mortal sin should not pray at all. This is an erroneous teaching which as been condemned by Holy Mother Church, because of course sinners need to pray far more than good people do. (quote from - The Secret of the Rosary)

It is God's will that we pray for the conversion of sinners, which includes people of other faiths.
It is an incredible act of mercy and charity.

First of all, then, I ask that supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings be offered for everyone, for kings and for all in authority, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all devotion and dignity. This is good and pleasing to God our savior,  who wills everyone to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth.  For there is one God. There is also one mediator between God and the human race, Christ Jesus, himself  human, who gave himself as ransom for all. (1 Timothy, Chapter 2 - Prayer and Conduct, N.A.B.)

"I can't stop praying for poor sinners who are on the road to hell. If they come to die in that state, they will be lost for all eternity. What a pity! We have to pray for sinners! Praying for sinners is the most beautiful and useful of prayers because the just are on the way to heaven, the souls of purgatory are sure to enter there, but the poor sinners will be lost forever. All devotions are good but there is no better one than such prayer for sinners."  St. John Vianney

You are at war. So be sure to set up your war room and plan your strategy.

Our faith will give us confidence in our difficulties, teaching us that whoever prays will be saved.  (St. Alphonsus Liguori)

It's important to persevere in prayer even when we don't feel like praying.

Pray, even if you feel it doesn't matter, or if you are dry.... your prayers unite me to you... (Our Lord to Blessed Julian)

Prayer is both a gift of grace and a determined response on our part. It always presupposes effort. The great figures of prayer of the Old Covenant before Christ, as well as the Mother of God, the saints, and he himself, all teach us this: prayer is a battle. Against whom? Against ourselves and against the wiles of the tempter who does all he can to turn man away from prayer, away from union with God. We pray as we live, because we live as we pray. If we do not want to act habitually according to the Spirit of Christ, neither can we pray habitually in his name. The "spiritual battle" of the Christian's new life is inseparable from the battle of prayer. (CCC 2725)

The Battle of Prayer: The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches “prayer is a battle”. We must fight against ourselves and against Satan who does all he can to turn us away from prayer and union with God. Distractions, apathy, busyness, noise, dryness – there are many things that can crowd our minds and hearts and keep us from prioritizing prayer as we ought. Jesus teaches when difficulty arises in prayer, we should persevere with humility and trust.  (Roman Catholic Man)

Remember to pray with trust and confidence. We belong to the Communion of Saints which include: The Church (called the Church Militant because its members struggle against the world, flesh, and the devil), the holy souls in purgatory, and the saints in Heaven.

"Prayer is our outstanding supernatural resource for fighting the wiles of the enemy. St. Alphonsus said, "Prayer is, beyond doubt, the most powerful weapon the Lord gives us to conquer evil ... but we must really put ourselves into the prayer, it is not enough just to say the words, it must come from the heart. And also prayer needs to be continuous, we must pray no matter what kind of situation we find ourselves in: the warfare we are engaged in is ongoing, so our prayer must be on-going also." Excerpt from Church Militant Field Manual

Remember the big picture:

For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers,
with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens.
(Ephesians 6:12)

(Catechism of the Catholic Church - 2725)

Always start with a prayer of thanksgiving. Make up your own or use the following*:

Start with the SIGN OF THE CROSS

Praise the LORD my soul;
I will praise the LORD all my life.

LORD, You are all good;
Your goodness and mercy endures forever;
when I call upon You, LORD,
You incline your ear to me.

PRAY:

I ask You LORD today,
to give the grace of conversion to the one for whom I pray _______________________.

Amen.

Recite: 1 Our Father, 3 Hail Mary's, 1 Glory Be.

Our Lady of Guadalupe - Patroness of the AmericasCall upon My mercy on behalf of sinners; I desire their salvation. When you say this prayer, with a contrite heart and with faith on behalf of some sinner, I will give them the grace of conversion. (1186, Diary)

Lord Jesus, with a contrite heart and with faith, I call upon your mercy on behalf of _________________, to give that soul the grace of conversion, and I pray this prayer on his/her behalf:
O' Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a Fount of Mercy for us, I Trust in You.

There is no greater act of mercy than to pray with a contrite heart and with faith for the eternal salvation of sinners. We will be held accountable for not praying for the eternal salvation of sinners, which of course includes our Muslim brothers and sisters.

Ask Our Blessed Mother to Intercede for us.

Your Guardian Angel

Dear Guardian Angel, please pray with me, and please pray for all my prayer intentions.

The Communion of Saints

Pray to any or all the Saints because they are close to God and they are waiting to intercede for us. We would be remiss not to use their help.

Pray for the Pope

Remember to keep the Pope in your prayers, as well as his intentions.

AN INTERCESSOR'S HUMBLE REMINDER  (to be filled, one must first be emptied)

Blessed Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit:
Who am I that I should ask for anything,
I am a nobody, an inconsequential, powerless person;
I have no authority or influence - not even a bit;
I have very, very little to offer;
I could absolutely make no meaningful difference on my own because of my insignificance;
I am but the lowliest soldier in YOUR army, and should be treated as such.
I am nothing!

IF YOU CHOOSE

LORD JESUS,
If YOU choose to do any good through me,
It's because YOU often choose the weak and broken;
That if YOU choose to bear fruit where I have sown,
It's only because YOU are working through the most pitiful and despised;
And if YOU choose me for any reason, LORD,
It is only because I am one of YOUR least servants.

Our Lord to Sister Maria Faustina Kowalska:

The Divine MercyThe Lord said to me, ‘The loss of each soul plunges Me into mortal sadness.  You always console Me
when you pray for sinners.  The prayer most pleasing to Me is prayer for the conversion of sinners.  Know, My daughter, that this prayer is always heard and answered.
(Diary, 1397)

I desire that you know more profoundly the love that burns in My Heart for souls, and you will understand this when you meditate upon My Passion. Call upon My mercy on behalf of sinners; I desire their salvation. When you say this prayer, with a contrite heart and with faith on behalf of some sinner, I will give him the grace of conversion. This is the prayer: "O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You. (Diary, 186-187)

PRAYERS AT 3 O'CLOCK (please also pray for the conversion of others at that time)

A devotion most dear to Our Lord is the veneration of His Passion at the very hour that recalls His death on the Cross. Immerse yourself completely in My Mercy, adoring and glorifying it; invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners; for at that moment, Mercy was opened wide for every soul. Beg Jesus at this hour (when the clock strikes 3) to have mercy on all the poor souls who are about to die and on their way to eternal damnation. (No greater act of mercy, can you pray for.) At three o'clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy for the whole world. I will allow you to enter into My mortal sorrow. In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion. At this hour you can obtain everything for yourself, and for others for the asking; it was the time of grace for the whole world - the moment that mercy triumped over justice. (Diary, 1320, 1572)

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us, and on the whole world.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls and an ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.

OH BLOOD AND WATER WHICH GUSHED FORTH FROM THE HEART OF JESUS AS A FOUNT OF MERCY FOR US, I TRUST IN YOU.

JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU. (Diary)

Our Lady of Good Help"I am the Queen of Heaven, who prays for the conversion of sinners, and I wish you to do the same."
(Our Lady of Good Help)

Prayer for Mercy for the Dying

O merciful Jesus, lover of souls, I beseech You,
by the agony of Your Most Sacred Heart and
by the sorrows of Your Immaculate Mother, wash
clean in Your Blood the sinners of the whole
world who are now in their final agony
but especially those on their way to eternal damnation and
who are to die this day.
Heart of Jesus who suffered death's agony,
I beg You have mercy on these poor souls.
Amen.

Short daily renewal of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Queen of the Most Holy Rosary,
I renew my consecration to you and to your Immaculate Heart.
Please accept me, my dear Mother,
and use me as you wish to accomplish your designs upon the world.
I am all yours, my Mother, my Queen, and all that I have is yours.

“Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory.”
“Our Lord showed St. Gertrude a vast number of souls leaving Purgatory and going to Heaven as a result of this prayer which the Saint was accustomed to say frequently during the day.”

Pray the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
and of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
one in Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation,
he came down from heaven:

by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was born of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.

For our sake he was crucified
under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again
in fulfillment of the Scriptures;

he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
 the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the  Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son
he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy
catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one
baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Come Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love.

V. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
R. And you shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray. O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise and ever to rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Saint Joseph and the Child JesusPrayer to Saint Joseph (by Pope Leo XIII - 1889)

Prayer To you, O blessed Joseph,
do we come in our tribulation,
and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse,
we confidently invoke your patronage also.

Through that charity which bound you
to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God
and through the paternal love
with which you embraced the Child Jesus,
we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance
which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood,
and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family,
defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ;
O most loving father, ward off from us
every contagion of error and corrupting influence;
O our most mighty protector, be kind to us
and from heaven assist us in our struggle
with the power of darkness.

As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril,
so now protect God's Holy Church
from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity;
shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection,
so that, supported by your example and your aid,
we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven.
Amen.

Saint MichaelPrayer to Saint Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Our Father:
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary:
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be:
Glory Be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

I PLACE ALL MY HOPE, FAITH AND TRUST IN YOU, BECAUSE YOU ARE GOD,

TO LIVE, DIE AND BE RAISED, SO THAT I MAY HAVE ETERNAL LIFE AND LIVE WITH YOU FOREVER.

The Memorare – A prayer for help from our Blessed Mother

Our Lady of Perpetual HelpREMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins,
my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

The Holy LeagueTHE HOLY LEAGUE

With what’s going on in the world, Deacon Profitt stresses that it’s “blatantly obvious we’re in spiritual warfare. We have to be prepared. The guys understand that. I would call that an underlying current in the whole Holy League movement. We are preparing men for battle. Jesus was a warrior.” Deacon Profitt tells men that in this battle they need to be the ones protecting their family. “That appeals strongly to the men. Our job is to make sure our families get to heaven. If we don’t do that, we’re shirking our responsibility — we’re failing as a father and a husband.”

I PLEDGE TO DO THE FOLLOWING (SR. LUCIA'S PEACE PLEDGE FOR OUR LADY:

1. OFFER UP EVERY DAY THE SACRIFICES DEMANDED BY MY DAILY DUTY;
2. TO SAY PART OF THE ROSARY (FIVE DECADES) DAILY WHILE MEDITATING ON THE MYSTERIES;
3. TO WEAR TO SCAPULAR OF MOUNT CARMEL AS PROFESSION OF THIS PROMISE AND AS AN ACT OF CONSECRATION TO YOU (BVM).

PRAY NOVENAS FOR THE CONVERSION OF OTHERS

Pray for the dead!
"Therefore, I ask you all to pray for your loved ones who have died, even if they’ve died 10, 20, or 50 years ago. We should never conclude that a soul is definitely lost. As Jesus said to St. Faustina, “There are moments and there are mysteries of the divine mercy over which the heavens are astounded. Let our judgment of souls cease, for God’s mercy upon them is extraordinary” (Diary, 1684).

DIVINE MERCY AFTER SUICIDE and PRAYING FOR THOSE WHO DIED 5  10  20 EVEN 50 YEARS AGO!!!

Immaculate Conception Novena

Padre Pio’s Sacred Heart Novena Prayer (written by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque)

O my Jesus, You have said: “Truly I say to you, ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.” Behold I knock, I seek and ask for the grace of (here name your request). Our Father … Hail Mary … Glory Be … Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.

O my Jesus, You have said: “Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in My name, He will give it to you.” Behold, in Your name, I ask the Father for the grace of (here name your request). Our Father … Hail Mary … Glory Be … Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.

O my Jesus, You have said: “Truly I say to you, heaven and earth will pass away but My words will not pass away.” Encouraged by Your infallible words I now ask for the grace of (here name your request). Our Father … Hail Mary … Glory Be … Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of You, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your tender Mother and ours.

Say the Hail, Holy Queen and add: “St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.”

Fear and shame creates a vulnerability in us.

"The enemy doesn't want you to pray; he will do everything to discourage you from praying. The demons despise and are tremendously  threatened by a disciplined prayer life. One that is relentless in its efforts.
Be specific in your prayers. Grind it out. You beat the demon by grinding it out, being a good soldier. Worry and prayer cannot co-exist. Fear and shame create a vulnerability.
Project into the cosmos what you want.
Pray to see them as the Father sees them, and that you see them as the Father sees them. Ask for the grace to let them go and let them go. Trust the Father. Then detach"
